Carolina Institute for Public Policy

In 2006 the College of Arts & Sciences approved creation of the Carolina Institute for Public Policy, an interdisciplinary policy research institute located and staffed in association with the department, to serve as a campus-wide focal point for public policy research and its application to public issues, particularly in stimulating the creation of policy-related research clusters, fostering research and engagement on North Carolina and the South in the context of global forces, national policies, and the study of policy-relevant trends and policy innovations, and serving as a broker for public policy research opportunities at the state, regional, national and international levels. The Institute has initial research strength in education and child policy, and anticipates the creation of additional research groups in areas in which the department's faculty can provide leadership and draw on additional campus-wide strengths.
